The city is especially known for the number and quality of its public courses. The Chicago Park District is spread across more than 8,100 acres of green space in the heart of the city, offering six different golf courses, three driving ranges, and two miniature courses. They are some of the most affordable golf options in the city and there is enough diversity among all the courses for players of all skill levels to enjoy.
The highlights of the Chicago Park District courses are the lakefront Sydney R. Marovitz Course and the historic Jackson Park Golf Course, where abundant hardwood trees will test your accuracy. Just outside of the city in Lemont, Cog Hill Golf & Country Club, home to the Western Open and BMW Championships, is another popular public golf facility that boasts four award-winning courses.
One of these, Dubsdread, has been ranked among the top 100 courses in the country. In addition to all of the public options available, there are also a number of well known privately owned clubs including Chicago Golf Club and Medinah County Club.
